ABOUT THE WORK

PV-Anlage Solar: integrating a solar calculator into an existing website

A useful interactive tool needs more than an embed code. It must load within the website’s security rules, fit its layout and behave appropriately alongside the site’s consent controls. My PV-Anlage Solar project addressed those practical integration requirements for a German solar website using an embedded calculator.

The work involved the calculator iframe, content-security-policy considerations, presentation adjustments and cookie-consent integration. It is a focused technical example from my portfolio: connecting a third-party tool with an established business website so that the surrounding page and the embedded experience work together more coherently.

Business context and the visitor’s cost question

PV-Anlage.de presents photovoltaic systems and related energy services, including storage, heat pumps and wallboxes. Visitors researching these topics often want an initial sense of cost and suitability before arranging a detailed consultation. A calculator provides an interactive route into that research, alongside service explanations and contact information.

The website places cost information and an embedded tool within the public experience. That makes the integration part of an important visitor journey. If the tool is blocked or displayed awkwardly, the interruption occurs at the point where a visitor is trying to move from general interest to a more specific enquiry.

The integration challenge

The calculator was supplied through an external service, with Reonic involved in the embedded experience. The host website and the tool therefore operate across different origins. The browser needs permission to display the external frame, and the page layout needs to accommodate content whose interface is managed outside the main website.

My work addressed the interaction between those layers. A visible loading problem can originate in the host page’s policy rather than in the calculator itself. Understanding that distinction is important because styling changes alone cannot resolve a resource that the browser is prevented from displaying.

Content security policy and external-frame access

The technical work included the site’s content security policy and the permission needed for the calculator’s external source. I worked with the relevant configuration so the intended Reonic frame could be used within the website. This connected the integration requirement with the browser’s rules for loading external content.

A focused policy adjustment is a different task from changing the calculator’s internal behavior. The host website needs to recognize the intended service, while the external tool continues to provide its own interface. Keeping those responsibilities clear makes troubleshooting more precise and avoids treating every embed problem as a layout issue.

Iframe styling and page experience

The iframe also needed to fit the page presentation. An embedded tool should have an appropriate width and enough space to display its content, while remaining connected to the heading and explanation that introduce it. Poor dimensions can create an awkward transition even when the external resource loads correctly.

My CSS work focused on that host-page relationship. The surrounding solar content establishes why the calculator is useful; the embed then provides the interactive step. Maintaining readable spacing and a sensible content flow helps the visitor understand that the tool belongs to the same journey as the rest of the page.

Cookie consent and the embedded experience

Consent behavior was another part of the project. The website uses Complianz, and the integration needed to be considered alongside that existing consent system. Third-party embeds can be affected by consent settings, so the loading experience needs to be understood in relation to the choices presented to the visitor.

I worked on the connection between the calculator and the site’s consent handling rather than treating the banner as an unrelated overlay. The practical goal was a coherent experience: the website’s controls and the embedded content should follow an understandable sequence, with the tool appearing within the intended page context.

Development checks across relevant pages

The work included checking the integration on the homepage and the cost-related page. That matters because the same external tool can be placed within different layouts or content contexts. A change needs to make sense wherever the embed is used, including its dimensions and surrounding explanation.

This project connects naturally with my integration services and WordPress development work. For another focused improvement within an existing website, see Precision Monitoring’s contact-page project.

PV-Anlage Solar demonstrates my approach to technical support that crosses layout, browser policy and third-party services. My contribution brought those concerns together around one practical purpose: making a solar calculator fit more reliably into the website’s existing content and consent experience.
